Sheri as an Acupuncturist:
I have been a patient of acupuncture for 18 years and have been amazed
at the transformative powers of acupuncture and the changes in my life.
A spiritual experience in 2002 led me to begin a new journey and I
enrolled in acupuncture school. In the spring of 2006, I received a
Master of Acupuncture degree from Tai Sophia Institute for the Healing
Arts, a premiere school for graduate education in complementary medicine
based in Laurel, Maryland. I am a member of the Maryland Acupuncture
Society and the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association. In addition to schooling at Tai Sophia, I have received
training from Jeffrey Yuen, Alex Tiberi, Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, Terry
Oleson, Lonny Jarrett, Jack Daniel, Michael Smith, Bob Brown, and Fritz
Smith. I learned auricular acupuncture from Dave Wurzel and Peter
Marinakis. I have also been privileged to shadow Peter Marinakis
for the past year two years in his private practice. I have completed
the course work for Zero Balancing and am currently finishing my
certification. I am also assistant faculty at TAI Sophia Institute for
the Healing Arts.
In addition to being a licensed acupuncturist, I am certified as an ADS,
Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist through NADA, the National
Acupuncture Detoxification Association. I am also licensed through the
state of Maryland, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as an
Auricular Detoxification Specialist. Utilizing this special license, I
offer addictions treatment, using the National Acupuncture
Detoxification Protocol, combining both Psychotherapy and acupuncture.
The NADA protocol can be done in a group or individual setting.
My teachings combine a Native American spiritual path with the eastern
philosophy of Taoism. Awaken the Spirit Wellness Center, LLC follows my
vision and my dream: that we are all connected; everything in the
universe is related: Mitakyue Oaysin. We must all work together to make
life on earth a more peaceful and healthier planet to reside on. This
philosophy begins with each of us as individuals, accepting
responsibility for our destinies. It is my privilege to work with you.
